Yama’s

So let talk about it, I repeat this a million times and I love to say it a lot. Raja yoga is a continue practice, no right or wrong. It’s continuous, and I love it.

What is Yama from raja yoga it’s one of the 8 limb practice from Patanjali Sutra. Yama means a series of living right, restraint, reining on or control. And under the Yama there are 5 characteristics, they are;

  1. Ahimsa (non-violence): pertaining to physical, also thoughts or words.

  2. Satya (truthfulness/ non-falsehood/ purity of speech): do not deceive ourselves or others, known ourselves in a deeper level.

  3. Asteya (non-stealing): taking anything that is not freely given but often rob ourselves to opportunity to learn, work or progress.

  4. Brahmacharya (moderation of the sense/ abstinent): walking in god consciousness, turn in word, balancing and supervisory the sense refers to mindfulness around sex.

  5. Aparigraha (non-attachment/ non-greed): which causes mental and emotional static, we do not hold onto things.

How do I bring this into my practice. My favorite mantra I used is, “Thank yourself on the things you can do and thank yourself on things you are working on”. I encourage you my beautiful people, tend to focus on what you need to work on mentally, physically, and spiritually. It should be a growing process. Thinking about the Yama’s, I often have wonder what can I do for myself. Recognize what going on keep a journal can helps out. Notice your progress even if it small step. Give yourself permission to get your practice together.

Be kind to yourself, patient and loving. Namaste
